Greetings and thanks for visiting this site. Being the first official blog that I will be writing for the public, expect to see some hiccups, missteps and snail-like progress. Momentum will progressively build as the project at hand gets under way.
Favela Music will be a docufilm and digital media experience that spotlights the birth and evolution of the Hip-Hop culture that exists in Brasil. Unlike most other international music scences out there, the MOVEMENT and CULTURE that is Brasilian is organic and original to the people there. The beautiful people in Brasil had access to the same R&B/Soul/Jazz and Blues music that defined Black music here in the US.
With similar 'hood experiences in the US and In Brasil- poverty, oppression, marginalization, drugs, violence, despair, incarceration, struggle and lacks of education, access and a soapbox - music offered a platform of communication and expression.
Favela Music is about Brasil and what the people there have to say about it.
